The Resource for Mississippi Filmmakers

The Mississippi Film Alliance is dedicated to fostering film and television production in our state. We administer the Emerging Filmmaker Grant program as well as provide 501(c)(3) services to film makers wishing to apply under not-for-profit status for other grant funding. 


MFA Emerging Mississippi Filmmakers Grant Program 2019


Application process begins June 1, 2019 and deadline is August 1, 2019. Grants will be issued on August 15, 2019. Films are due by August 1, 2020.

Application deadline:  Applications and supporting material must be mailed to MFA at the address below postmarked on or before August 1, 2019 or emailed. 

Applications received via e-mail will be accepted and are encouraged.

Funds available: The MFA board of directors will offer a maximum of $2,500 for each project. Projects requiring less than $2,500 will also be considered. The first portion of the grant will be awarded no later than August 15.

FEST WAIVERS: Festival partners that provide waivers to grant recipients include: Oxford Film Festival, Crossroads Film Festival, Tupelo Film Festival, Magnolia Film festival, AfterGlow Film Festival, Rails to Reels Film Festival, Festival South Film Expo, Clarksdale Film Festival and It's About You Film Festival. 

Overall purpose:  To help develop emerging Mississippi film and video artists as the next generation of Mississippi’s legacy of storytelling.

Project deadline:  All funded projects must be completed by August 1, 2020 or an extension must be requested by July 1, 2020. The filmmaker must send a digital file or three DVD copies of the completed project by the deadline to MFA as part of the project completion proof.
